TRIBRU27 announces artists and architects

30.10.2026

During a press event on October 20, 2026, in the beautiful gymnasium of the Rijksnormaalschool, Bruges Triennial announced the participating artists and architects for its fifth edition. From April 24 to September 5, 2027, TRIBRU27 once again brings contemporary art and architecture to Bruges and Zeebrugge. In a world that seems increasingly divided, Triennale Brugge explores what connects people with After Birth: Structures of Togetherness.

Rituals, traditions and coexistence

The theme starts from the important moments when people come together to celebrate, remember, care, dream, or say goodbye. Through art and architecture, TRIBRU27 explores how rituals, traditions, and encounters shape our coexistence.

This edition unfolds in five chapters: The Arrival, The Registration, The Herd, The Feast and The Ceremony.

Five chapters, 19 artists and architectsBased on the five chapters, these nineteen international artists and architects create new work for the public space of Bruges and Zeebrugge:

Mahmoud Khaled (EG), PAN- Projects (UK), Kulttuurisauna (FI), Marie-Louise Richards (SE), Leopold Banchini (CH), Sammy Baloji (CD | BE), Theaster Gates (US), Sandi Hilal | DAAR (PS), Animali Domestici (DK), Brrum (SE), Kapwani Kiwanga (CA), Afaina de Jong (NL), Laura Muyldermans (BE), TAKK (ES | US), NEW SOUTH (FR), Luana Vitra (BR), Joris Van de Moortel (BE), PLAN COMÚN (FR | CL), Tarik Kiswanson (SE)

Their installations, artworks and other interventions will be in dialogue with the history, stories and places of the city.

TRIBRU27 focuses on collaboration and dialogue

Moreover, for the first time, Bruges Triennial abandons the classic model of a single artwork in a single location. Multiple works come together at various sites, creating new encounters between artists, architecture, residents, and visitors.

Collaboration with local cultural partners is also central. Musea Brugge, CC Brugge, Concertgebouw Brugge, Het Entrepot, De Republiek, and Cactus Muziekcentrum are contributing to an extensive public program featuring exhibitions, performances, lectures, and encounters.

With art gallery BRUSK as the festival's heart and a program full of new creations, Triennale Brugge 2027 invites visitors to experience Bruges and Zeebrugge in a different way. As always, all works are free to access and open seven days a week.
